Because the style's rules are evaluated one after the other, this style will draw the feature using symbol1 if the feature's POPULATION attribute has a value of less than 500,000; it will draw the feature using symbol2 if the feature's POPULATION attribute has a value between 500,000 and 1,000,000; and it will draw the feature using symbol3 if the feature's POPULATION attribute is 1,000,000 or more.

Note

As well as having filters, rules can also have a minimum and maximum scale factor at which the rule will apply. This can be used, for example, to hide smaller features when the map is zoomed right out.
